Position: Full time Preschool Teacher
Location: Guilding Light Montissori Job Description: The following responsibilities will be expected by each Montessori Guide here at Guiding Light Montessori: • Observing, guiding, supervising, and assessing children while they learn in the classroom environment. • Develop lesson plans, independent learning exercises, curricula, and methods that cater to the needs of the individual child - Lessoning planning to be done in Transparent Classroom. • Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, stimulating classroom where all children feel safe and valued. • Establish rapport and build relationships with children based on trust. • Setting an excellent example for students and installing good values in them like honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love and kindness. • Plan, prepare, and maintain all units of study - including Montessori materials, thematic units, library books, etc. • Facilitate a respectful environment for children and adults by advocating conJlict resolution through Grace and Courtesy lessons. • Assist with the training of new teachers • Observe and keep daily records on each student’s individual progression through the classroom using Transparent Classroom. • Read school newsletter every month • Read the weekly staff update every week. • Maintain own Transparent Classroom account • Assist in potty learning • Assist in nap room Responsibility to the Environment: • Establish and maintain classroom true to the Montessori philosophy: ensuring classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working condition. • Plan, prepare, and maintain all units of study - including Montessori materials, thematic units, library books, etc. Responsibility to children and parents: • Keep information conJidential • Be professional and positive in all dealings with children and parents. • Communicate to parents any daily achievements/obstacles - can be done verbally or through Transparent Classroom. • Prepare for and schedule 2 in person parent conferences one for Winter and one for Spring (number of children will be decided between you and Director). • Allow the children to be as independent as possible and try not to be an obstacle in their growth. • Share information from parents to other staff members that can be shared - i.e. did the child take any medicine before school that we need to be aware, etc. Please email: [email protected] to apply or inquire more about the position.
