Position: Preschool Teacher
Location: Joyful Beginnings Preschool in Lafayette, CA Job Description: We are a non-profit preschool in Lafayette offering a developmentally appropriate curriculum to 45 children ages 2 to 5 years. We are currently seeking a part time preschool teacher. Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. daily with the option of extended hours and full time by August. We have been open and doing well with all the Covid protocols. We are adding more students and need additional staff as we transition back to a more fully enrolled program. We close late June and July. Our curriculum is literacy based and intentional. In summary we believe that all curriculum starts with a quality picture book followed with activity choices that are intentionally integrated and well planned. That does not mean that children do not have free choice as we are a play based preschool. Each day the teacher plans activities based on children’s interest and supports their play. Our curriculum incorporates the California Preschool Learning Foundations and Desired Results Developmental Profile. During each day we cover the following areas in our daily activities; social emotional, language and literacy, cognitive and math, visual and performing arts, history, social science and science. Teachers record anecdotal notes and create individual portfolios for each child in their care. Qualifications: Applicants must have at least 12 units in Early Childhood Development, AA Degree preferred. Applicants must also have completed CPR & First Aid (or willing to complete), have a current live scan clearance and be willing to continue their education. The qualified candidate will possess the following: 1. Minimum of 12 ECE units (including core courses) 2. Prior experience working in a licensed childcare facility 3.
