Established
in 1986, the LLESA Children’s Center provides full day, year round child care
services to Lawrence Livermore and Sandia National Laboratory employees and
families who live or work in Livermore.
The program offers full day, year round care for children 6 weeks old
through 5 years as well as an after school and summer program for elementary
school age children up to 13 years of age.
The LLESA Children’s Center follows a research-based philosophy that children learn best in a child-initiated play environment allowing them to develop intellect through hands-on, sensory experiences. The program is designed to meet the individual and group needs of the children through developmentally appropriate activities. Our program focuses on the development of the whole child promoting social/emotional, fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, and language skills. We stress the importance of open-ended, process-oriented materials and activities that allow children to fully explore and develop their own knowledge, learning, and creativity with the support and encouragement of well educated, experienced, and tenured teachers.
We also believe in providing a loving, supportive environment where nurturing teachers appreciate the uniqueness of each child and family. The teachers strive to help each child feel safe and secure in our environment which builds trust and positive self esteem. The program is centered on reliable early care and education practices that are developmentally appropriate and play based.
